DANCE CLASS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SAFE AND IMPORTANT SOCIAL CONNECTIONS
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought so many challenges into our lives. A big challenge facing parents is the ability to facilitate new social connections for their children that feel safe and worthwhile. At IDP we have been working hard to create a safe dance environment for dancers that facilitates these important social connections while also offering quality technical training, self-expression, and physical exercise.
With schools participating in online learning, the opportunity for social connection during this pandemic is limited. Social connection is vital to mental health and an important part of childhood development. Dance class is a safe and effective way to allow students to engage socially while remaining in a controlled, socially distanced environment.
At IDP we are taking many safety precautions to ensure that dancers can continue to use the studio to grow as dancers. Our class sizes are capped at 8-10 dancers for students over the age of seven and classes for our youngest dancers, ages 3-6, are capped at six students per class. This ensures that students have plenty of space to move and remain distanced from their classmates. Our teachers and dancers over five wear masks and we have HEPA air purifiers running in each studio. Our bathrooms and high touch areas are cleaned several times throughout the evening and the studio floor is mopped between classes. All students are screened, asked how they are feeling, and encouraged to use hand sanitizer. Masks are required in our lobby.
The list of protocols and safety measures may seem long, but the importance of engaging in social activities is too important to miss out on. To continue to create a space where these connections are possible the faculty at IDP takes the safety precautions very seriously. We hope that your student will join us in the studio soon!
